To help current and former foster youth from Monterey County achieve their academic potential and to help further their futures, Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) of Monterey County has established The CASA of Monterey County Scholarship Fund to support the educational dreams of youth currently in Monterey County foster care, or youth formerly in Monterey County foster care.
“If you want to change our communities and break the cycle of abuse and neglect, now and for generations to come…invest in a young person’s future.” says Vicki Myers, Executive Director for CASA of Monterey County. “Volunteer and become a CASA, or support CASA of Monterey County by donating. The value and return on your investment is priceless.”
The CASA of Monterey County Scholarship Fund will award renewable scholarships in 2020, up to $2,000.00 each. The funds may be used to help obtain a university, community college, trade, or vocational school education.
Scholarship applications are now open with a deadline of March 15, 2020. Youth currently or formerly in Monterey County foster care can apply on line for the CASA of Monterey County Scholarship Fund, and may simultaneously request a number of other scholarships that are offered through the Community Foundation of Monterey County, at: https://www.cfmco.org/scholarships/apply-for-a-scholarship/
CASA of Monterey County provides the advocacy, support, and encouragement that a family would typically provide. To find out more about becoming a CASA, or to make a tax-deductible contribution to support Monterey County foster children, please contact CASA of Monterey County at 831.299.CASA, or visit CASAs web site at www.casaofmonterey.org
